Utility II Operator

A skilled and self-assured Utility II Operator with a strong mechanical or electrical trade background required for Port Elizabeth.

This role is responsible for ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimising breakdowns, maintaining product quality and supporting continuous production.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12 Certificate (NQF 4).
  • Electrical or Mechanical trade test.
  • Up to 3 years' operator experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office, SAP, ERP systems and related manufacturing software).
Technical Competencies:
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Understanding of maintenance practices, methodologies and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and workplace safety principles.
  • Ability to operate machinery in accordance with supplier operating manuals.
  • Basic fault-finding and preventative maintenance knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain Negative and Positive Pasting Lines, including the Expander, Tab Blanker, Hopper, Divider and Stacker in accordance with supplier operating manuals.
  • Ensure production equipment consistently produces quality products at the required production rates.
  • Monitor and maintain extraction and cooling systems to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Carry out first-line repairs and maintenance to minimise equipment failures and production downtime.
  • Complete job cards before maintenance work commences.
  • Accurately complete production logs, attribute charts and SPC documentation in accordance with work instructions.
  • Operate within company procedures, policies and manufacturing standards.
  • Identify and report equipment faults, risks and operational concerns to the Section Manager.
  • Promote safe working practices and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Support cost control initiatives by reducing waste and ensuring the effective use of materials and resources.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and internal customers.
  • Identify and resolve operational problems while maintaining AutoX's quality and service standards.
