Systems Engineer Specialist
Job Purpose
To provide specialist technical expertise and support in the installation, configuration, testing, optimization, maintenance, and support of hardware, operating systems, systems software, and related infrastructure. The role is responsible for ensuring high availability, reliability, performance, and security of enterprise systems while providing technical leadership and troubleshooting support.
Key Responsibilities Systems Administration & Support
- Install, configure, maintain, and support server hardware and operating systems.
- Manage Windows, Linux, and other enterprise operating environments.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and software deployments.
- Monitor system performance and ensure optimal availability and reliability.
- Provide advanced technical support for infrastructure-related incidents and problems.
Infrastructure Management
- Maintain enterprise server environments, storage systems, and related infrastructure.
- Support virtualization platforms and cloud-based services.
- Configure and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Ensure infrastructure complies with security and governance standards.
System Optimization & Performance Management
- Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning activities.
- Analyze system utilization and recommend improvements.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Implement automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
Incident & Problem Management
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and system issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
- Support major incident resolution and service restoration activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents and resolutions.
Security & Compliance
- Implement security best practices and controls.
- Monitor system vulnerabilities and apply remediation measures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
- Support audits and risk management activities.
Project Delivery
- Participate in infrastructure projects and system implementations.
- Provide technical expertise during solution design and deployment.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Ensure successful migration, integration, and deployment of systems.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations.
- Develop operational manuals and support guides.
- Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to team members.
Minimum Requirements Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cloud, or Infrastructure certifications will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years' experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Support, or Systems Administration.
- Experience supporting enterprise server environments.
- Proven experience with virtualization technologies.
- Experience in system performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
