SHE Officer - Food Manufacturing

Role Overview

A food-manufacturing company in the Western Cape is seeking an experienced SHE Officer. The role manages the SHE system, monitors legal and certification compliance, and supports safe work practices across the operation.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage the SHE Management System.
• Monitor compliance with applicable occupational health, safety, environmental legislation, and company requirements.
• Ensure minimum legislative, customer, and certification requirements are maintained.
• Develop, implement, and monitor SHE policies, procedures, standards, and safe work practices.
• Maintain accurate SHE records, registers, reports, and statistical information.
• Conduct and review Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments on a continuous basis and recommend control measures.
• Develop and maintain an internal SHE audit and inspection programme.

Experience & Qualification

• Matric.
• Degree or Diploma in Safety Management or a related field.
• Three to five years’ health and safety experience in food manufacturing.
• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations.
• Experience conducting Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments.
• Knowledge and experience in Ammonia Plant Safety Management is advantageous.
• Salary range of R350,000 to R420,000 per year, plus provident fund.
