Senior Operations Engineer - DevOps and Cloud

Role Overview

An experienced Senior Operations Engineer is required to support the reliability, availability, security, and operational stability of enterprise applications and infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. The fixed-term role combines DevOps, infrastructure automation, cloud operations, CI/CD, IaC, observability, incident management, and IT Service Management.

Responsibilities

• Lead configuration management and infrastructure automation.
• Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code and automation solutions.
• Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines.
• Support cloud and on-premises production environments.
• Drive change, release, and transition management and maintain governance standards.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex production incidents and lead RCA and post-incident improvements.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities.
• Develop runbooks, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
• Monitor operational KPIs, service quality, availability, and reliability.
• Support service continuity, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Facilitate onboarding and knowledge transfer and mentor junior engineers.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation and maintain security, lifecycle, and governance requirements.
• Collaborate with distributed and international DevOps teams.

Requirements

• Practical experience with configuration management such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Salt.
• Scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, AWS/Azure, monitoring and observability, Linux or Windows administration, and production troubleshooting.
• Change, release, transition management, ITSM/ITIL, and Git experience.
• Relevant IT degree, diploma, or equivalent.
• Approximately 6–10 years' broad IT experience, including 3–5 years in Operations, DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Operations.
• ITIL Foundation and Service Transition experience is advantageous.
