Senior Entry Controller
Introduction
A leading logistics company in Durban is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Entry Controller to join its Customs Clearing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a customs professional with a strong understanding of South African Customs legislation, tariff classification, duty calculations, and import/export procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate preparation and processing of customs entries while maintaining compliance with SARS Customs regulations and company standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and frame all customs entries after quality-checking supporting documentation prior to capture.
- Process a variety of customs entry types, including WH, DP, WE, IR, XDP, XGR, and XIR entries.
- Ensure all customs declarations comply with SARS Customs legislation and company procedures.
- Perform accurate tariff classification and customs duty calculations.
- Analyse and correctly apply Incoterms to import and export transactions.
- Complete and submit various customs documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
- Apply for import permits through ITAC where required.
- Prepare and submit Customs queries and respond to requests for additional information.
- Process Landing Orders and Cargo Dues for Bulk and Breakbulk cargo.
- Review shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance before submission.
- Liaise with clients, shipping lines, transporters, and customs authorities to facilitate efficient cargo clearance.
- Maintain accurate customs records and supporting documentation.
- Perform general administrative and operational duties as required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Matric) with strong Mathematics results.
- Freight Forwarding or Logistics qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience within the freight forwarding or customs clearing industry.
- Working knowledge of ShipShape or similar customs clearing software.
- Strong knowledge of South African Customs legislation, processes, and procedures.
- Proven experience with tariff classification and customs duty calculations.
- Comprehensive understanding of customs schedules and clearance requirements.
- Sound knowledge and practical application of Incoterms.
- Experience processing customs documentation across various import and export entry types.
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
