About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join a growing finance team in Cape Town.

This role is ideal for a confident and detail-driven credit control professional who can take ownership of debtor management, drive collections, reduce overdue balances and maintain strong client account relationships.

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving cash flow, monitoring debtor days and ensuring that credit control processes are followed accurately and consistently.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing a portfolio of debtor accounts
Leading credit control activity and ensuring timely collections
Following up on overdue accounts and outstanding payments
Reducing debtor days and improving cash flow
Resolving account queries, payment disputes and billing issues
Reconciling customer accounts and maintaining accurate records
Preparing debtor reports, ageing analysis and collection updates
Escalating high-risk accounts where required
Liaising with clients professionally regarding outstanding balances
Supporting credit limit reviews and account risk assessments
Working closely with finance, sales and operations teams
Ensuring compliance with internal credit control policies and procedures
Supporting junior or mid-level credit controllers where required

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

5+ years’ experience in credit control, debtors or collections
Strong experience managing high-volume debtor accounts
Proven ability to reduce overdue balances and improve collections
Strong reconciliation and account query resolution skills
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Good understanding of debtor ageing, credit risk and cash flow impact
Strong Excel skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Professional, assertive and proactive working style

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

Previous experience in a senior credit control role
Experience supervising or supporting junior credit control staff
Experience working in a busy finance or shared services environment
Experience using accounting, ERP or debtors management systems
Strong reporting and debtor analysis experience

What We Offer
