Senior Allocator
Synopsis
A leading fashion retailer is seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Senior Allocator to support the business in maximising sales, margins, and stock efficiency across its clothing retail operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sales and margin budgets, managing stock allocations, monitoring weekly performance, and supporting promotional and markdown strategies. This role requires strong numerical and analytical ability, a detailed understanding of the clothing retail environment, and the confidence to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Set store sales and margin budgets in line with overall business objectives.
- Collaborate with the HOM to implement financial strategies and achieve agreed budgets.
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining a clear and effective pricing architecture.
- Manage stock allocations to stores to optimise availability and sales performance.
- Monitor weekly sales and stock performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyse fast and slow sellers and adjust stock allocations accordingly.
- Prepare and plan effectively for promotions and markdowns to optimise sales, margins, and stock levels.
- Monitor stock performance and proactively identify potential overstock and understock situations.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding deliveries to the warehouse and ensure delivery requirements are managed effectively.
- Work closely with the Finance team regarding supplier claims and the return of stock to suppliers.
- Conduct regular store visits to gain insight into store performance, customer trends, and stock requirements.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting to support commercial and operational decision-making.
- Remain informed of market movements, customer behaviour, and emerging retail trends
Qualifications / Minimum Requirements
- BCom Degree or relevant qualification in Business, Finance, Retail, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ proven experience in Clothing Retail Planning.
- Previous experience within a clothing retail environment – essential.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong understanding of retail planning, sales, margins, stock, and pricing.
- Willingness to work extended hours when required.
- Willingness to conduct regular store visits.
