Sales Person
An established food company is looking for a Sales Person to join their team within an import and export business operating across international markets including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, as well as locally within South Africa’s FMCG sector servicing both wholesale and retail supply chains.
The role is focused on achieving sales targets by maximizing turnover, profitability, and business growth through effective selling, canvassing for new business via telephone, and maintaining and growing an existing customer base.

Requirements
- Strong patience and ability to engage customers in conversation
- Good sales ability; product and market knowledge will be an advantage
- Working knowledge of relevant computer software (SAP, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle rejection and work under pressure
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively
- High professional work standards

Key Responsibilities
- Initiating sales and new business development via cold calling
- Identifying customer needs to generate repeat sales
- Gathering and recording customer information, payment details, purchases, and feedback
- Staying up to date with product ranges and informing customers of new offerings
- Responding to customer product queries
- Processing and managing sales orders
- Ensuring proper follow-up and order management
- Achieving and maintaining sales targets
- Monitoring market trends, promotions, and specials
- Following up on sales inquiries and providing quotations
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships to grow market share
- Traveling nationally for business development when required
- Assisting with general sales support tasks such as debtor follow-ups, quality issues, and credit notes
Qualifications / Skills
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Computer literate (intermediate level or higher)
- Knowledge of seafood products will be advantageous
- Strong sales and marketing skills (essential)
Experience Required
-
2–3 years’ sales experience in the FMCG industry
