Synopsis

A freight-forwarding operation is looking for an experienced Road Freight Operations Controller to coordinate client shipments and ensure cargo moves efficiently from purchase order through dispatch and final destination. The role requires strong understanding of road freight, customs requirements, international trade terms and shipment documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate client shipments from issue of purchase order in accordance with applicable Incoterms.
Ensure shipments are dispatched according to operational requirements.
Maintain appropriate service levels while monitoring shipment margins.
Keep clients informed regarding shipment progress and potential delays.
Ensure customs requirements and destination-country regulations are met.
Process shipments in accordance with established operating procedures.
Liaise with suppliers and expeditors to support timeous cargo uplift.
Ensure proof-of-delivery documentation is returned by hauliers or destination offices.
Coordinate multimodal import and export shipments where required.
Ensure completed shipments are prepared for client invoicing.

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements

Matric / Grade 12.
Relevant freight-forwarding qualification.
Three to five years of experience as a Road Freight Controller.
Working knowledge of Incoterms and road-freight shipment processes.
Understanding of customs and destination-country requirements.
Strong client communication and shipment-coordination skills.
