Key Responsibilities

• Scrub for a variety of surgical procedures while maintaining strict aseptic technique.
• Prepare theatre equipment, instruments, and consumables before surgery.
• Assist surgeons and the multidisciplinary team throughout operative procedures.
• Ensure accurate instrument counts and maintain theatre safety protocols.
• Monitor and advocate for patient safety throughout the perioperative journey.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with infection-prevention and quality standards.
• Contribute to efficient operating-theatre processes and continuous quality improvement.

Minimum Requirements

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
• Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Postgraduate qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing is advantageous.
• Previous scrub experience in an operating theatre is essential.
• Sound knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, and infection prevention.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary theatre environment.
