Regional Industrial Sales Manager - Durban
Role Purpose
The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth within an allocated region by identifying new business opportunities, developing strong customer relationships, and securing profitable projects. The role focuses on managing the complete sales process, from prospecting and solution development through to contract handover, while ensuring sales targets, customer satisfaction, and business objectives are consistently achieved.Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the allocated region.
- Develop and expand the customer base through proactive networking and relationship building.
- Increase market awareness and identify opportunities to grow market share.
- Generate new enquiries through existing and prospective customer relationships.
- Develop and implement regional sales strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities.
Sales and Tender Management
- Review customer requirements and develop technically sound, cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare and submit quotations and tenders for standard product and service requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to prepare complex proposals and tender submissions.
- Present technical and commercial proposals to customers.
- Negotiate commercial terms and successfully conclude sales agreements.
- Achieve regional sales targets and order intake objectives.
- Ensure accurate handover of completed projects to operational teams.
Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers across all levels of management.
- Conduct regular customer visits to understand operational requirements and strengthen relationships.
- Respond promptly to customer enquiries and resolve commercial issues professionally.
- Promote a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.

Commercial and Financial Management
- Work closely with finance and commercial teams to establish appropriate commercial conditions.
- Support contract negotiations and ensure all commercial requirements are met.
- Monitor regional sales performance against budget and forecast targets.
- Identify potential risks affecting sales performance and implement corrective action plans.
- Provide input into annual sales forecasts and departmental budgets.
- Support the achievement of operational profitability and revenue objectives.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise with engineering, proposals, finance, contracts, and project teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Facilitate effective communication between internal departments throughout the sales lifecycle.
- Support smooth project handover by ensuring all commercial and technical information is complete and accurate.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting and Administration
- Maintain accurate sales records and customer information within the CRM system.
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance updates.
- Monitor sales activities and report on market developments and customer trends.
- Ensure all sales documentation is completed accurately and timeously.
Team Contribution
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of sales processes and customer engagement strategies.
- Identify potential talent and skills gaps within the regional sales function.
- Support knowledge sharing and collaboration across the sales team.

Role Requirements
Qualifications
- BSc Mechanical Engineering or BEng Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years' industrial sales experience.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and business development targets.
- Experience preparing technical quotations and tenders.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements.
- CRM system experience.
- Experience selling technical or engineering solutions within an industrial environment will be advantageous.
