Our client, a well-established engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of industrial automation and end-of-line equipment, is looking to appoint an experienced Project Engineer / Project Manager to join their growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who enjoys working on technically challenging projects from concept through to installation while building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Develop 2D CAD layouts and concept designs for engineering projects.
Translate client requirements into practical engineering solutions and technical specifications.
Prepare quotations, project costings and realistic project timelines.
Manage projects from quotation through design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and handover.
Coordinate with production, procurement, finance, electrical engineering and installation teams.
Review detailed engineering designs to ensure functionality, manufacturability and serviceability.
Maintain accurate project documentation, job cards and configuration records.
Monitor project progress, budgets, risks and deadlines.
Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Travel to client sites for project meetings, factory acceptance testing, installations and commissioning when required.

Minimum Requirements

BSc (Eng), BEng or BTech Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 6–7 years' relevant engineering experience within machinery, industrial automation or OEM manufacturing.
Strong 2D CAD layout and concept design experience.
Experience working with 3D modelling software (SolidWorks or similar advantageous).
Sound understanding of engineering principles, including strength of materials and automation-related calculations.
Experience managing engineering projects from concept through implementation.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
Excellent administration, planning and document control abilities.
Fluent in both English and Afrikaans.
Valid driver's licence.
Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required.
