A leading South African retailer based in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Programme Manager - Real Estate Development for a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will lead the programme management of a large-scale store refurbishment initiative. This strategic role requires a highly experienced programme management professional with a proven track record of delivering complex, enterprise-wide transformation programmes within a retail environment.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale retail store refurbishment programme.
Drive business transformation initiatives across people, processes, and technology.
Develop and manage programme governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver programme milestones on time and within budget.
Manage programme risks, dependencies, and issues while implementing mitigation strategies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with executive stakeholders and business leaders.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration across multiple business functions.
Monitor programme performance and provide regular reporting to senior leadership.
Oversee programme budgets, resource allocation, and delivery timelines.
Travel extensively across South Africa to support programme implementation and stakeholder engagement.

Minimum Requirements:

Extensive programme management experience within a retail environment.
Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale business transformation programmes.
Experience managing complex programmes involving significant budgets, operational impact, and tight timelines.
Strong understanding of organisational change management across people, processes, and technology.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage diverse stakeholder groups.
Excellent programme planning, governance, execution, and reporting skills.
Strong risk management and problem-solving capabilities.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout South Africa.
Previous experience managing large retail refurbishment or real estate development programmes will be advantageous.
