Production Planning Manager - Papua New Guinea

Role Purpose:
The Production Planning Manager is responsible for the development, coordination, and optimisation of production plans across all farming and production units.
The role focuses on forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting to ensure efficient production flow, accurate supply planning, and alignment with business objectives. This includes managing stockfeed forecasting, hatchery output, livestock placement, and harvesting schedules, supported by data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Forecasting
  • Develop short- and long-term production plans across all production units
  • Conduct capacity planning, scenario modelling, and simulations to optimise output
  • Plan and coordinate placement schedules for all farming operations
  • Manage harvest and culling schedules in line with production targets
  • Forecast hatchery production to align with placement and sales requirements
  • Forecast stockfeed requirements and coordinate supply planning with relevant stakeholders
Operational Coordination
  • Liaise with farm management, hatcheries, and suppliers to ensure alignment on production plans
  • Coordinate stockfeed logistics, including delivery schedules and on-site availability
  • Work closely with sales teams to align production volumes with demand forecasts
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support seamless production operations
Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date production data across all operations
  • Analyse production performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly production reports
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and output
Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor key production metrics and ensure alignment with business targets
  • Conduct performance analysis across all production units
  • Support compliance audits and ensure adherence to operational standards
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven decision-making


Role Requirements:
Qualifications
  • Degree in Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, or a related field
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a production planning or similar role
  • Experience in poultry or agricultural production environments advantageous
  • Experience working with large-scale production planning and forecasting
Skills & Competencies
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data modelling and macros
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation ability
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple departments
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of the organisation
  • Proficiency in reporting tools and presentation software advantageous
