Lifting & Foundry

We are currently looking for Eleconop 2 Lifting and Foundry to operate and maintain electroplating equipment and processes in accordance with production requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • 1–3 years’ experience in an electroplating or manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of electroplating processes and chemicals
  • Ability to read and interpret job cards, work instructions, and specifications
  • Knowledge of plating processes (e.g., zinc, nickel, chrome plating)
  • Understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques
  • Basic knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures
  • Ability to use measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, thickness gauges)
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate electroplating baths and related equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Prepare components for plating (cleaning, masking, jigging, and racking)
  • Monitor plating parameters such as temperature, current, voltage, and chemical levels
  • Conduct basic chemical additions and maintain bath composition under supervision
  • Inspect plated components to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
  • Record production data, process readings, and quality results accurately
  • Identify defects or non-conformances and report to the supervisor
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Assist with stock control of chemicals and consumables
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
  • Routine Inspections: Conduct daily and weekly "first-line" inspections of overhead cranes, hoists, and slings to identify wear and tear.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Replace and repair common electrical components, including contactors, limit switches, pendants, and carbon brushes.
  • Mechanical Support: Assist with the lubrication of wire ropes, gearboxes, and wheel bearings to prevent equipment seizure.
  • Fault Finding: Perform basic diagnostic checks on motor control circuits and 3-phase systems to minimize production downtime.
  • Safety & Housekeeping: Ensure all lifting tackle is stored correctly and that work areas in the high-heat zones are kept clear of electrical hazards.
  • Qualification: N3–N6 Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a recognized internal "Eleconop" certification. (Red Seal is a plus but not strictly required at this level)
  • Experience: 5–10 years of practical experience in a heavy industrial or foundry environment.
  • Specific Knowledge: * Solid understanding of AC motor starters and basic control panels.
  • Hands-on experience with the physical components of overhead cranes (hoists, long travel, and cross travel).
  • Ability to work safely at heights and follow strict Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
