Junior Import Merchandiser - Midrand
Synopsis
A leading homeware importer and supplier is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Import Merchandiser to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced merchandising professional with strong import or homeware experience to play a key role in product sourcing, supplier and customer relationship management, commercial negotiations, and supply chain coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate and source new products in line with market and customer requirements.
- Research local and international trends through store visits, trade shows and supplier sourcing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and international suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and other commercial requirements.
- Analyse orders and monitor quality control specifications.
- Manage the supply chain process, including order tracking, administration and follow-ups.
- Lead range presentations and sample reviews with buyers.
- Assist with artwork approvals and packaging specifications.
- Identify and proactively drive new sales and product opportunities.
- Ensure all processes and activities adhere to company standard operating procedures.
- Resolve product, supplier, order and delivery-related issues effectively.
Qualifications / Minimum Requirements
- University degree.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Import Merchandising or a related sales role.
- Previous homeware or import-related merchandising experience is essential.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent sales and negotiation skills.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
- Highly organised with excellent administrative skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to lead meetings and engage effectively with buyers and suppliers.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think laterally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
- Proven ability to build, maintain and grow long-term client and supplier relationships.
