Junior HR Assistant

Do you have exceptional attention to detail and a sound understanding of leave administration and South African labour legislation?

Based in Bellville, a well-established manufacturing concern is looking for an organised HR Assistant to manage attendance, leave cycles, sick leave, disciplinary records and employee queries for a workforce of approximately 100 employees.

This role requires an HR qualification, excellent communication skills, and strong Excel proficiency.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Grade 12 (Matric) + a HR qualification
  • Strong knowledge of SA Labour Law
  • Min 2-3 years' experience in a payroll, wage administration, HR administration, or time and attendance environment
  • Experience working with time and attendance systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of payroll processes, leave administration, and employee record management
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities
DUTIES
  • Monitor and manage employee attendance, including absenteeism, late arrivals, early departures, leave verification, and attendance record maintenance
  • Administer sick leave processes, including validation, documentation, compliance monitoring, and escalation of exceptions
  • Maintain accurate payroll-related attendance data, report exceptions, validate hours, and support weekly payroll processing
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports and payslips
  • Coordinate employee onboarding, including documentation, system setup, personnel file creation, and HR updates
  • Maintain employee records, HR documentation, education records, and BEE information
  • Support disciplinary, counselling, and attendance-related investigations and processes
  • Compile and provide attendance statistics and HR-related reports to management
  • Process IOD claims, employee terminations, and related exit documentation
  • Administer bursary applications and ongoing bursary records
  • Provide general HR administrative support and respond to information requests as required
Salary: R10,000 ctc negotiable dependent on experience, provident fund and medical.
