Junior Head Chef – Upmarket Restaurant (Franschhoek)

About the Role

An established upmarket restaurant in the heart of Franschhoek is seeking a passionate and talented Junior Head Chef to join its culinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious chef looking to take the next step in their career within a high-end dining environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading and managing the kitchen team.
  • Ensure the consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.
  • Support menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal menu changes.
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and kitchen standards.
  • Manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships.
  • Maintain strict hygiene, health, and safety standards.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.


Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Previous experience in a senior CDP, Sous Chef, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for fine dining and culinary excellence.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
