Junior Head Chef – Upmarket Restaurant (Franschhoek)
About the Role
An established upmarket restaurant in the heart of Franschhoek is seeking a passionate and talented Junior Head Chef to join its culinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious chef looking to take the next step in their career within a high-end dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and managing the kitchen team.
- Ensure the consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.
- Support menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal menu changes.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and kitchen standards.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships.
- Maintain strict hygiene, health, and safety standards.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a professional kitchen.
- Previous experience in a senior CDP, Sous Chef, or similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for fine dining and culinary excellence.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
