Jnr Financial & Payroll Officer
Synopsis
We are recruiting a Jnr Financial & Payroll Officer to join a well-established agricultural operation running two farms in the Western Cape. Based between Greyton and Villiersdorp, this role provides accurate and timely payroll and financial administration
Key Responsibilities
- Full end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing using payroll software (examples: Farm Trace, Sage 300 People, PayWorks, Pastel Payroll, Pay Space).
- Prepare and ensure wage journals are approved by Financial Manager prior to posting.
- Capture wage data, leave (annual, sick, IOD, family responsibility), onboarding new employees onto payroll.
- Process statutory deductions (PAYE, UIF, SDL) and assist with EMP201/EMP501 and UIF declarations.
- Maintain employee master data, perform payroll software updates/backups, and ensure confidentiality.
- Financial admin: process purchase orders, supplier invoices, expense claims; maintain digital records; assist with credit control, budget planning and monthly wage reports.
- Compliance support: assist with audits (internal/external and certification audits such as GlobalGAP/SIZA), ensure adherence to BCEA, LRA and SARS regulations.
Qualifications / Minimum Requirements
- Matric (essential).
- Diploma in Payroll/Finance/HR/Accounting advantageous.
- 1–2 years payroll/financial administration experience (3–5 years referenced for senior roles -note this is a junior role requirement of 1–2 years).
- Proven experience with full payroll cycles; exposure to HR admin advantageous.
- Proficiency in payroll software (Sage 300 People, Pastel Payroll, Pay Space), MS Excel and MS Office.
- Working knowledge of accounting packages (QuickBooks or NetSuite advantageous).
- High attention to detail, numerical accuracy, organisational skills, ability to meet deadlines and handle confidential information.
