Jozi Jobs

Integration Architect

Role Overview

Design, establish and orchestrate integration frameworks, middleware platforms and hybrid-cloud data flows across core infrastructure, enterprise service buses, legacy platforms and cloud ecosystems. Enable reliable data transport using enterprise integration patterns, iPaaS solutions, message queues and cross-platform protocol transformations.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate, document and execute integration strategies spanning cloud-to-cloud, on-premise-to-cloud and B2B or third-party interfaces.
  • Architect enterprise integration middleware, API-management gateways and iPaaS solutions.
  • Standardise enterprise integration patterns for asynchronous and synchronous communication.
  • Design canonical data models, schema transformations and ETL or ELT pipelines for JSON, XML, EDI, Avro and Protobuf payloads.
  • Establish resilient messaging and event-streaming topologies using message brokers and ensure zero-data-loss and idempotent processing.
  • Define integration security protocols covering OAuth2, mutual TLS, API-key policies, message-level encryption and secure VPN configurations.
  • Architect dead-letter queues, circuit breakers, automated retries and failover routing.
  • Establish observability, tracking and alerting across middleware channels.
  • Evaluate and select enterprise integration products and vendor solutions against technology roadmaps and budgets.
  • Conduct architectural reviews, provide technical governance and mentor delivery squads.

Desired Experience and Qualification

  • National Diploma, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or related discipline.
  • Five to eight or more years' commercial IT-engineering experience, including at least three years as an Integration or Middleware Architect.
  • Enterprise Integration certifications are highly valued.
  • Experience in IT Consulting or Telecommunications is advantageous.
  • Deep command of enterprise integration patterns, SOA, microservices, ESB architectures and iPaaS operations.
  • Hands-on mastery of API-management platforms and message-queue managers.
  • Expert understanding of REST, SOAP, WebSockets, gRPC, EDI and schema mapping.
  • Experience designing hybrid-cloud integration structures under governance constraints.
  • Strategic planning, stakeholder management and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks and message-delivery failures in high-volume production environments.
