Import Clerk And Financial Controller

Our client, a well-established international import and export company based in Montague Gardens, is looking for an experienced Import Clerk & Finance Controller to manage the import process from purchase order through to final delivery.
This role requires strong administrative and numerical skills, experience with import procedures, and exceptional attention to detail. Accuracy is essential, as even minor errors can result in customs delays and financial losses.

REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in imports and logistics administration
- Previous experience dealing with freight forwarders and clearing agents
- Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working on an accounting package (Pastel advantageous)
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Valid driver's licence
DUTIES
- Coordinate the end-to-end import process from purchase order to final delivery
- Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and other stakeholders to ensure timely shipment of goods
- Monitor shipments and resolve any delays or import-related issues
- Prepare, verify, and maintain all import documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Calculate landed costs, product costing, and customer pricing with a high level of accuracy
- Verify supplier invoices, reconcile import-related costs, and process supplier payments.
- Maintain accurate import costing records and financial documentation
- Ensure compliance with South African customs legislation, NRCS requirements, and company import policies
- Coordinate marine insurance for shipments and manage insurance claims when required
- Maintain import tracking schedules, filing systems, and import procedures
- Prepare reports and provide general administrative support to the business
- Communicate shipment updates, supplier pricing, and new product information to internal stakeholders
- Capture supplier invoices in Pastel Accounting, assist with reconciliations, and support the finance department with administrative and accounting tasks
