Heidelberg cylinder operator
We are currently looking for a Heidelberg Cylinder Operator to produce high-quality printed products according to production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements while minimizing waste and machine downtime.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Certificate or training in Printing Technology is advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience operating a Heidelberg Cylinder printing press.
- Experience in commercial, packaging, or lithographic printing.
- Preparing machinery for daily use
- Cutting of all work.
- Inspecting machinery for safety issues
- Perform routine maintenance
- Set up machine as per required work ticket on an hourly basis
- Complete run as per work ticket
- General admin
- Strong understanding of print production processes.
- Knowledge of ink mixing, colour matching, and print registration.
- Ability to read and interpret production specifications.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of quality control procedures.
- Ability to perform routine machine maintenance.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Heidelberg Cylinder printing machines.
- Read and interpret job cards, production orders, and print specifications.
- Prepare the machine for production by installing plates, adjusting rollers, and setting ink levels.
- Monitor print quality throughout production to ensure colour consistency, registration, and overall print accuracy.
- Perform routine machine adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
- Conduct basic preventative maintenance and daily machine cleaning.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical and printing issues to reduce downtime.
- Ensure production targets and deadlines are achieved.
- Minimise material waste through efficient machine operation.
- Maintain accurate production records and report machine faults.
- Adhere to health, safety, and housekeeping (5S) standards.
- Work closely with quality control and finishing departments to ensure customer specifications are met.
