Health & Safety Officer

Synopsis

We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Health and Safety Officer to ensure that workplace environments comply with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will identify potential hazards, implement safety procedures and promote a culture of safety across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety assessments.
2. Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective measures.
3. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
4. Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures.
5. Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses.
6. Conduct employee safety training and awareness sessions.
7. Maintain safety records, reports and documentation.
8. Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements

1. A qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
2. Relevant health and safety certification or registration, where required.
3. Knowledge of South African Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
4. Previous experience in a health and safety role is advantageous.
5. Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
