Job Description
Do you have 10 years commercial experience with overall management of the procurement, logistics, supply chain and accounts/finance operations?Our International client requires a Head of Commercial to lead price strategies & negotiations, finance and margin management with a strong understanding of international IMPORT SUPPY CHAIN management and distribution within the technical/electronics sector.
The position involves International and National travel at times.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a commercial field (e.g., Commerce, Finance, Supply Chain, or Business Administration)
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role, including financial and margin management, pricing strategy, and foreign exchange (Forex) exposure
- Strong understanding of international import supply chain management and distribution
- Solid grasp of production, logistics, and procurement management
- Working knowledge of domestic warehousing and courier operations
- Good understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ERP systems
- Strong analytical skills — able to interpret performance metrics and market trends
- Skilled negotiator with strong influencing ability
- Systematic, meticulous, and detail-oriented
- Available to work full-time, with occasional national and international travel
DUTIES
Strategy & Financial Management- Contribute to strategy development and implementation to enhance overall business profitability
- Identify and manage cost-saving initiatives; participate in business improvement projects
- Manage cash flow forecasting and effective payables management
- Maintain strong internal controls and audit trails; produce timely management reports
- Establish and enforce credit control policies, limits, and escalation procedures for payment disputes
- Oversee debtors, creditors, and related processing functions
- Improve order processing efficiency and turnaround times
- Develop and maintain SOPs for order management processes
- Ensure seamless order fulfilment, with pricing, discounts, and terms applied correctly
- Lead price and cost negotiations with suppliers
- Own supplier qualification and audit processes
- Negotiate SLAs with suppliers, vendors, and third parties
- Conduct vendor performance and cost analysis
- Conduct customer price analysis
- Analyse market trends to inform pricing strategy
- Set performance goals and evaluate staff performance
- Train and develop staff
- Contribute to the annual marketing plan alongside the Head of Business Development and Marketing Consultant
Salary: R negotiable dependent on experience
