Grocery Supervisor

Role Overview

Manage the grocery department of a retail store in Durban, leading staff, controlling replenishment and shrinkage, and maintaining merchandising and promotional standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and control daily department activities, conduct meetings and enforce discipline.
• Determine replenishment needs, negotiate supplier prices and coordinate returns and stock rotation.
• Allocate space for merchandisers and check promotions and product pricing.
• Maintain merchandising standards and correct shelf labels.
• Control warehouse stock levels and monitor shrinkage.
• Purchase additional promotional stock and coordinate in-store promotions.
• Check invoice pricing and monitor product rate of sale.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or Matric.
• At least one year of grocery-supervisor experience.
• At least one year of buying or purchasing experience in wholesale or retail.
• Proficiency in office applications.
• Retail-industry experience is essential.
