Fridge Mechanic / Refrigeration Technician
Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced and technically competent Fridge Mechanic / Refrigeration Technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, fault-finding, and repair of refrigeration and cooling equipment.Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning qualification or relevant technical qualification.
- Refrigeration trade certificate would be advantageous.
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a Fridge Mechanic / Refrigeration Technician.
- Experience with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration electrical and mechanical systems.
- A valid driver's licence would be advantageous.
- Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or standby when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, maintain, and repair refrigeration and cooling systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and refrigeration faults.
- Identify and repair refrigerant leaks.
- Perform gas charging, recovery and evacuation of refrigeration systems.
- Maintain and repair compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans and associated components.
- Monitor refrigeration temperatures and ensure equipment operates within required specifications.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements.
- Carry out routine inspections and record equipment conditions.
- Ensure refrigeration equipment complies with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports.
- Work closely with production, maintenance and management teams to minimise equipment downtime.
- Ensure all tools, equipment and work areas are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
- Comply with the company's health and safety policies and procedures.
