Foods Department Manager - Tembisa

Introduction

A leading South African retail company is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Foods Department Manager to join their store operations team in Tembisa.

This role is responsible for managing the Foods Department to maximise sales performance, achieve departmental budgets and targets, maintain operational excellence and deliver exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will lead, develop and motivate a Foods team while ensuring effective stock management, promotional execution and adherence to store standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience within a Foods/Retail environment, a commercial mindset and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced store environment.

Please note: Suitable candidates must reside near Tembisa and have their own reliable vehicle.

Description

• Manage and drive departmental sales in line with budgets and targets.
• Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently achieved.
• Lead, coach and develop the Foods Department team.
• Recruit, select and manage employees according to business requirements.
• Ensure daily Foods operational processes are completed accurately and timeously.
• Maintain department standards, stock availability and shopkeeping disciplines.
• Manage stock control, replenishment and minimise stock losses.
• Drive promotions, special events and initiatives to maximise sales.
• Monitor departmental performance and implement improvement plans.
• Support achievement of store objectives through effective teamwork.
• Participate in general store operational responsibilities.
• Ensure shrinkage is effectively controlled and managed.

Education Profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent NQF qualification.
• 3 years management experience in FMCG retail
• Foods Department experience required.
• Strong understanding of stock management and retail operations.
• Computer literacy required.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle essential.
• Must reside in Tembisa.
