Foods Department Manager - Midrand

Introduction

A leading South African retail company is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Foods Department Manager to join their store operations team in Midrand.

This role is responsible for managing the Foods Department to maximise sales performance, achieve departmental budgets and targets, maintain operational excellence and deliver exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will lead, develop and motivate a Foods team while ensuring effective stock management, promotional execution and adherence to store standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience within a Foods/Retail environment, a commercial mindset and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced store environment.

Please note: Suitable candidates must reside near Midrand and have their own reliable vehicle.

Description

• Manage and drive departmental sales in line with budgets and targets.
• Ensure exceptional customer service is delivered to both internal and external customers.
• Lead, coach, develop and motivate the Foods Department team.
• Recruit, select and manage employees to meet departmental competency requirements.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of daily Foods Department processes.
• Maintain operational standards and ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Manage stock levels, replenishment and availability of products.
• Implement and monitor departmental activities to achieve business objectives.
• Maximise sales opportunities through promotions and special events.
• Ensure shopkeeping disciplines and store standards are consistently maintained.
• Identify opportunities to minimise shrinkage and improve profitability.
• Participate in general store operational duties and support overall store goals.
• Drive the successful implementation of new initiatives and projects.

Education Profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent NQF qualification.
• 3 years management experience in FMCG retail
• Foods Department experience required.
• Strong understanding of stock management and retail operations.
• Computer literacy required.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle essential.
• Must reside in Midrand.
