Fleet Controller

Job Title: Fleet Controller (contract based)

Department: Operations / Fleet Management

Location: Port Elizabeth



To manage and control fleet operations efficiently, ensuring compliance, safety, cost control, and optimal vehicle utilization. The Fleet Controller is responsible for coordinating drivers, monitoring vehicle performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and road regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily fleet operations, including scheduling and dispatching of vehicles
  • Monitor vehicle tracking systems (e.g., C-Track) to ensure route compliance and efficiency
  • Manage driver performance, attendance, and adherence to safety protocols
  • Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, serviced, and compliant with legal requirements
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and inspections of fleet vehicles
  • Monitor fuel usage, tyre management, and overall fleet costs
  • Maintain accurate fleet records, logs, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with road traffic laws and company policies
  • Conduct driver training and enforce safe driving practices
  • Liaise with internal departments and external service providers

Work Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in fleet management
  • Experience operating and managing Code 14 trucks and trailers
  • Experience within the transport or logistics industry preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, or similar (advantageous)
  • Valid Code 14 EC Driver’s License with PDP
  • Must pass VTS/Dover checks, medical examinations, and driver screenings

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and/or experience with:
    • MAN Trucks
    • Greco / Carrier Refrigeration Systems
    • Hollandia / Sky-Jacks Tail-lift Systems
    • C-Track or similar fleet tracking systems
    • Vehicle tyre management systems
  • Sound understanding of road traffic laws and regulations
  • Ability to analyze fleet data and generate reports

Computer Literacy:

  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office:
    • Excel

    • Exchange
