Financial Controller (JB6226)

Introduction

A growing South African consumer-products business in the FMCG and distribution sector is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own its financial-administration function. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role focuses on debtors, cash-flow discipline, financial controls, reporting, and process automation.

Minimum Requirements

  • BCom in Accounting or Finance, National Diploma in Financial Management, or equivalent qualification.
  • At least five years' financial-management, financial-control, or senior financial-administration experience.
  • Hands-on accounts-receivable, debtors, and credit-control experience in a substantial ledger.
  • Experience with debt collection, debtor-ageing and cash-flow reporting, credit limits, month-end closing, and reconciliations.
  • At least three years' Sage Evolution experience and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Experience implementing automated reminders, collection workflows, dashboards, reporting tools, internal controls, or improved finance processes.
  • Experience managing or mentoring finance or administration staff.
  • Strong commercial awareness, accuracy, operational discipline, and cross-functional communication.
  • FMCG, distribution, ERP, automation, inventory-reconciliation, or stock-reporting experience is advantageous.
  • Must be based in Gqeberha or willing to relocate within 30 days.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable, debt-collection policies, debtor ageing, DSO, and overdue debt.
  • Work with Sales to resolve payment delays, disputes, and credit issues.
  • Manage customer credit limits, applications, and approvals.
  • Prepare weekly debtor reports and cash-flow forecasts for management.
  • Automate debtor reminders, collection workflows, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Lead or support ERP implementations, improvements, and system enhancements.
  • Oversee internal controls, reconciliations, month-end closing, and financial governance.
  • Manage or mentor junior finance and administration employees.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to improve payment practices and compliance.
  • Assist with inventory reconciliation and stock reporting.
  • Deliver agreed targets for debtor days, collection efficiency, reporting accuracy, automation, and overdue-debt reduction.
