Financial Accountant | Southern Suburbs
Are you a technically strong Finance Accountant with completed articles and 2–3 years’ post-articles experience?
Our client, a sophisticated and forward-thinking organisation based in the leafy suburb of Newlands, Cape Town, is seeking a detail-driven, analytical, and proactive Finance Accountant to join their high-performing finance team.

Purpose of the Role
The Finance Accountant will be responsible for analysing financial information, preparing accurate financial reports, and maintaining complete and compliant financial records. The role plays a key part in supporting financial governance, operational efficiency, and statutory compliance across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Capture and verify financial transactions accurately.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Perform cash flow forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist with annual budget preparation.
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements.
Reconciliations & Internal Controls
- Capture and reconcile debtors and creditors accounts.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile inter-company loan accounts.
- Maintain and enforce internal financial controls.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Prepare, complete, and submit statutory and regulatory returns (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, etc.).
- Attend to SARS queries and provide supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with financial legislation, accounting standards, and internal policies.
Operational Finance
- Manage monthly payroll processing (experience advantageous).
- Process supplier payments.
- Respond to ad hoc accounting queries and operational finance requests.
Education & Professional Requirements
- Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles (essential).
- BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification (essential).
- Honours in Accounting (advantageous).
- Strong understanding of accounting and auditing principles.
- Solid knowledge of VAT, Income Tax, and South African tax legislation.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (essential).
- Experience with Xero Accounting (advantageous; training available if willing to learn).
- Knowledge of SimplePay (advantageous).
Experience
- Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles.
- 2–3 years’ post-articles experience (preferred).
