Financial Accountant
Introduction
Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance team in Johannesburg. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial records, supporting month-end reporting cycles, and maintaining strong financial controls across the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with finance leadership and operational departments to ensure that financial information is accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory standards. Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Manage the month-end and year-end financial close process.
- Assist with statutory reporting and external audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal financial policies.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and provisions.
- Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Work closely with operational teams to analyse cost variances and performance.
- Identify opportunities for financial process improvements and automation.
- Support finance leadership with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA highly advantageous.
- Minimum of 4–6 years experience in a financial accounting role.
- Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards and financial reporting frameworks.
- Experience working with accounting systems such as SAP, Sage, or Oracle.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling.
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a structured and organised manner.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with senior stakeholders.
