Are you an experienced Financial Accountant ready to take ownership of a full accounting function?

Our client in Milnerton is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to manage the finance function across three entities, including month-end, management accounts, reconciliations, SARS/VAT compliance, cash flow and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience, strong Excel and accounting software skills, and the ability to work independently while improving processes and controls.

REQUIREMENTS

A degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
Strong month-end, reconciliation and management reporting
Minimum 5 years’ relevant accounting experience
Experience managing a broad accounting function independently
Strong understanding of South African VAT, SARS and statutory requirements
Good working knowledge of accounting software, preferably Sage Pastel
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail
The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to investigate discrepancies
Good communication skills and the ability to work with non-finance teams

The following would be beneficial:

Experience with multi-currency transactions and foreign supplier payments
Experience with customer deposits, refunds, supplier prepayments and margin reporting
Experience improving finance processes, reconciliations and internal controls

DUTIES

Manage the day-to-day accounting function for the company group
Own the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, provisions and reconciliations
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
Perform bank, supplier, customer and balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain accurate accounts payable and receivable records
Support SARS submissions, VAT, PAYE and statutory compliance requirements
Assist with cash flow reporting, supplier payment planning, budgeting and forecasting
Improve accounting processes, internal controls and reporting workflows

Salary: R negotiable dependent on experience
