Feedlot Veterinarian

Role Overview

Take ownership of animal health, welfare, production performance, regulatory compliance, food safety, and biosecurity within an intensive beef feedlot and its associated operations.

Animal Health and Production

  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventative animal-health programmes, including vaccination, parasite control, and treatment protocols.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage infectious, metabolic, and production-related diseases.
  • Monitor animal health, welfare, performance, and production outcomes within intensive beef systems.
  • Implement and continuously improve biosecurity systems across feedlot and satellite operations.
  • Maintain accurate clinical, production, and treatment records.

Compliance and Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, food-safety, animal-welfare, and veterinary standards.
  • Support disease prevention, surveillance, investigation, and corrective-action processes.
  • Work with production, feedlot, and operational teams to improve animal-health outcomes.
  • Veterinary degree recognised for practice in South Africa and registration with the South African Veterinary Council required.
  • Experience in feedlot, livestock, production-animal, or intensive beef environments is advantageous.
