External Sales Representative
Are you a confident and driven Field Sales Representative with experience calling on mainstream retailers and independent stores?
Our client, operating across the Western Cape, is looking for a dedicated Sales Representative to promote and grow their brand within the retail market.
This is a dynamic, high-activity role that involves being on the road, building strong customer relationships, securing new business opportunities, and maintaining repeat sales through excellent service and consistent follow-ups.

This is a dynamic, high-activity role that involves being on the road, building strong customer relationships, securing new business opportunities, and maintaining repeat sales through excellent service and consistent follow-ups.
REQUIREMENTS
- Matric
- Valid driver’s license
- 1–3 years’ experience in field sales (FMCG, beverages, liquor, tobacco/vape, telco field sales, or similar)
- Proven ability to sell into independent retail and close new accounts
- Existing relationships with retailers in the territory
- Experience with route selling, merchandising standards, and reorder management
- Strong closer with confident retailer-facing communication
- High personal discipline (activity, punctuality, route planning)
- Resilient and self-motivated; comfortable with rejection
- Commercial awareness (margin, price, SKU mix)
- Honest, reliable, and able to represent the brand professionally
- Field-based role with daily travel; occasional weekend/event support may be required
DUTIES
- Identify, visit, pitch, and secure new retail stockists in the territory
- Close first orders, ensure correct SKU mix, and agree reorder triggers (minimum stock / reorder cadence)
- Place and maintain merchandising materials, ensure correct product visibility, pricing display, and stock rotation
- Build a repeat-order base by revisiting active outlets, preventing stock-outs, and managing basic objections/service issues
- Create and follow an efficient daily route plan; prioritise high-potential outlets and clusters
- Build strong relationships with owners/managers; act as first-line support for queries, basic training, and product education
- Log all visits, outcomes, photos (where required), orders, and next actions in the CRM/field app daily
- Report competitor activity (pricing, promos, placement), retailer feedback, and emerging opportunities to the Regional Lead
- Participate in daily/weekly sales huddles, coaching, and ride-along; consistently hit activity and performance KPIs
