Engineering or Equivalent Degreed AI Tech Specialist/Builder

Role Overview

A leading fintech and consumer rewards business in Sandton is looking for a junior Head of AI and Technical Operations. The role suits a technically sharp person with an Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree who has built something with AI. Two to four years of experience is ideal. This is a fully on-site role.

Responsibilities

• Identify high-impact opportunities for AI and automation and build a prioritised implementation roadmap.
• Build and deploy AI-powered tools and workflows using large language models, AI agents, and prompt engineering.
• Pilot, test, and scale AI use cases and measure impact against KPIs.
• Build and maintain Power BI reporting infrastructure enhanced with AI-driven insights and forecasting.
• Transform multi-source datasets into clean, AI-augmented analysis.
• Design data structures and validation logic to keep operational data clean and audit-ready.
• Architect and maintain automation systems using tools such as Zapier, Make, Google Apps Script, MessageBird, and ActiveCampaign.
• Debug workflow failures and maintain technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
• Run user acceptance and technical testing and track bugs to resolution.
• Champion AI adoption through training, tooling guidance, and best-practice documentation.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and AI-enabled system designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Actuarial Science, Data Science, or another technical or analytical field.
• South African citizenship and a Johannesburg base.
• Hands-on experience building, configuring, or deploying an AI tool or workflow.
• Experience with Google Sheets, Excel, Power BI, or Looker Studio.
• Experience designing or building an automated system or workflow.
