Electrical Foreman
Synopsis
An industrial operation is seeking a hands-on Electrical Foreman to take responsibility for the electrical maintenance function in Durban. The position leads electricians, assistants, apprentices and contractors while coordinating preventative maintenance, breakdown response and electrical projects across a demanding operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, allocate and supervise electrical maintenance and project work.
- Estimate labour, materials and time requirements for electrical jobs.
- Ensure assigned projects are completed within approved timeframes and budgets.
- Supervise electricians, assistants, apprentices and external contractors.
- Plan and manage preventative electrical maintenance programmes.
- Coordinate maintenance requirements for cranes and associated electrical systems.
- Perform and oversee technical fault finding and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure work complies with health, safety and quality-control requirements.
- Maintain departmental accountability for electrical maintenance performance.
Qualifications / Minimum Requirements
- Qualified Electrician with a recognised Trade Test.
- Valid Wireman's Licence.
- Medium-voltage experience or certification.
- Approximately twelve years of post-apprenticeship experience, including substantial supervisory exposure.
- Strong industrial maintenance experience within manufacturing and/or ship-repair environments.
- Experience with crane electrical systems is relevant to the position.
- An Electrical Engineering qualification is advantageous.
