Electrical & Electronic Engineer - Bellville
Role Purpose:
The Electrical & Electronic Engineer is responsible for the specification, design, testing, and commissioning of electrical and electronic control systems related to steam and hot water boilers and associated equipment.
The role ensures that all systems are designed and implemented in accordance with national and international standards, while supporting project delivery from proposal stage through to commissioning and operational handover.

Design & Engineering
The Electrical & Electronic Engineer is responsible for the specification, design, testing, and commissioning of electrical and electronic control systems related to steam and hot water boilers and associated equipment.
The role ensures that all systems are designed and implemented in accordance with national and international standards, while supporting project delivery from proposal stage through to commissioning and operational handover.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering
- Design electrical and instrumentation systems for boiler and ancillary equipment
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation including instrument lists, I/O lists, loop drawings, routing diagrams, and data sheets
- Develop control philosophies, analogue diagrams, and PLC cabinet designs
- Specify and design motor control centres, cable sizing, and electrical layouts
- Select and specify equipment in line with project and regulatory requirements
- Perform PLC and DCS programming and configuration
- Execute control loop tuning and optimisation
- Develop and implement automation and control strategies
- Assist with cold and hot commissioning of boilers and associated equipment
- Commission control systems including drives, burners, pumps, fans, and valves
- Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting on control systems and instrumentation
- Support project lifecycle activities from tendering through to commissioning and handover
- Prepare estimates and proposals for electrical and instrumentation scopes of work
- Provide technical input for project tenders and client requirements
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) on the MRP system
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date engineering documentation
- Maintain compliance with engineering standards and procedures

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- Professional registration with ECSA or in progress (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial control environment
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in PLC and DCS programming
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in control loop tuning
- Strong knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
- Knowledge of national and international electrical standards and regulations
- Proficiency in PLC programming platforms (e.g., Siemens or similar)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and exposure to AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Detail-oriented with strong technical accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects
