Draughtsperson
Job Description
Draughtsperson – Fire Protection Systems Salary: R8 500 – R11 000 per month, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.An established specialist in fire protection solutions is seeking a technically minded and detail-oriented Draughtsperson to join its design team. The position is strongly focused on Revit, which will account for approximately 85% of the work, with the remaining 15% completed in AutoCAD.
The successful candidate will prepare accurate 2D and 3D drawings and collaborate with designers, engineers, project managers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, primarily using Revit.
- Use AutoCAD for approximately 15% of draughting requirements.
- Produce drawings for fire detection and mechanical fire protection systems, including sprinklers, gas suppression systems, pump houses, hydrants, hose reels, extinguishers and signage.
- Update and revise drawings according to engineering, production and project changes.
- Prepare accurate as-built drawings upon completion of projects.
- Produce drawings from site information, maintenance records, existing plans and technicians’ sketches.
- Conduct occasional site visits to obtain measurements and as-built information.
- Liaise with designers, engineers, project managers and technicians regarding drawing progress and changes.
- Ensure title blocks, revision numbers, project numbers, dates and draughting details are accurate.
- Maintain drawing registers and proper document control.
- Convert drawings into accessible formats, including PDF.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable industry standards, SANS Codes, building regulations and internal specifications.
- National Senior Certificate with Mathematics.
- A relevant draughting or technical diploma is preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ relevant working experience.
- Practical Revit experience is essential.
- Formal training in Revit, AutoCAD or a related CAD programme.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks would be advantageous.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills.
- Sound technical understanding of mechanical design and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.
