A well-established manufacturing company based in Blackheath, Cape Town is seeking a permanent Draughtsman to support design, product development, and production within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Requirements:

Relevant technical qualification (Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical or Architectural Draughting)
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Draughtsman in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor or similar)
Strong computer skills (MS Excel and technical systems)
Solid understanding of:
- Steel structures and fabrication
- Joinery and cabinet construction
- Plumbing systems
- 12V electrical installations
- Mechanical components
Ability to produce detailed technical and manufacturing drawings
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple design projects and work under pressure
Good communication skills
Own reliable transport

Advantageous:

Experience in trailer manufacturing, mobile sanitation, or modular construction
Knowledge of SANS standards and compliance requirements
Hands-on experience in fabrication or production environments

Key Responsibilities:

Produce accurate and detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings from concept to final manufacturing stage
Develop complete production-ready drawings, including rendering and detailed design work
Interpret client requirements and translate concepts into practical manufacturing designs
Collaborate closely with design and production teams to ensure feasibility and manufacturability
Maintain and update drawing registers and documentation control systems
Revise and update designs based on production feedback or client changes
Provide technical support to production, sales, and manufacturing teams
Conduct site measurements and assist with prototyping where required
Liaise with suppliers regarding materials, components, and specifications
Assist with new product development and improvement of existing designs
Perform cost estimations for new and existing designs
Analyse estimated vs actual project costs and identify variances
Ensure all designs meet required standards and specifications
