Dental Assistant

Well established dental practice is seeking a Dental Assistant to work closely with another assistant, with occasional overlap to support the smooth running of the practice. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, as collaboration is essential in a busy and sometimes high-pressure environment with multiple practitioners and an open-plan reception area. Candidates must be friendly, well-presented, and able to work quickly and efficiently. Fluency in both English and Afrikaans is required, along with a neat and professional appearance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • All ordering, checking and maintaining of stock.
  • Checking invoices against orders, approving and scanning of all invoices to Creditors for payment.
  • Responsible for year-end stock count and pricing.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing ahead of and after surgery.
  • Collecting Patients from Reception and taking them through to examining rooms/surgery and making sure they are at ease and comfortable.
  • Preparing Patients for surgery: checking blood pressure and supplying medicine.
  • Preparing surgical instruments needed for surgery.
  • General assistance to Dentist. 
  • Preparing for surgery in hospital (Instruments and stock).
  • Assisting with the appointment book.
  • Assisting with answering the telephone and general smooth running of the Practice.
  • Responsible for a clean and sterile surgery and examining rooms (supervising cleaning).
  • Cleaning of suction pipes.
  • Ensuring that all computers in surgery and examining rooms are up and running.
  • Ensuring that the Scan/Pan machine is up and running.
  • Making sure that all implants are available ahead of surgery.
  • Ensuring that the dentures of the Patients are packed ahead of surgery and/or liaising with the Dentists to deliver the dentures a day before the procedure.
  • Loading Patient’s scans on CD as and when necessary.
  • Arranging disposal of medical waste.
  • Arranging collection of specimens by Pathcare.

  • Be willing to start early and work late as and when required.
  • Office hours 8:00 until the last patient has left, Monday to Friday.
  • Uniforms will be provided.
