Debt Collector
About the Role
We are looking for a professional and results-driven Debt Collector to recover outstanding payments while maintaining positive customer relationships. You will contact clients regarding overdue accounts, negotiate repayment arrangements, and ensure collections are handled in accordance with company policies and legal regulations.
What You'll Do
- Contact customers regarding overdue accounts via phone, email, or written correspondence
- Negotiate payment arrangements and settlement agreements
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up on unpaid balances
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and payment commitments
- Resolve customer queries and disputes professionally
- Ensure compliance with debt collection laws, regulations, and company policies
- Prepare collection reports and update account information
- Work towards individual and team collection targets
Requirements
- Matric certificate (minimum requirement)
- Previous experience in debt collection, credit control, customer service, or a similar role is preferred
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
- Ability to remain professional when handling difficult conversations
- Basic computer literacy and experience with debt collection or CRM software is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
