Customs Clearance Agent
About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Customs Clearance Agent to manage the import and export clearance process, ensuring shipments comply with customs regulations and reach their destination efficiently. You will work closely with clients, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and logistics teams to facilitate smooth international trade operations.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and submit customs documentation for import and export shipments
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade requirements
- Calculate duties, taxes, and tariffs where applicable
- Liaise with customs officials, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and clients
- Track shipments and resolve customs-related delays or issues
- Maintain accurate shipping and customs records
- Stay up to date with changes in customs legislation and international trade regulations
- Provide clients with advice on customs procedures and documentation requirements
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field (preferred)
- Previous experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or logistics is advantageous
- Knowledge of customs procedures, import/export regulations, and shipping documentation
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customs or freight management systems
