Cost Accountant
Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant to improve costing accuracy and provide operational insight into margins and production variances. This role is critical in ensuring that cost drivers are understood, controlled, and reflected accurately in reporting. You will work closely with operations to validate data, maintain costing structures, and improve inventory discipline. The position requires a balance of detail and practicality, with a strong focus on reconciliation and trend analysis. You will also help strengthen reporting around WIP, standard costing, and efficiency metrics. - Maintain and review cost models, standard costs, and costing structures to support accurate pricing and margin reporting.
- Analyse production variances, investigate root causes, and present actionable recommendations.
- Support inventory and WIP controls by preparing reconciliations and ensuring accurate movements and valuations.
- Assist in monthly close activities related to costing, including journals and schedule preparation.
- Work with operational teams to validate data inputs and improve costing discipline and documentation.
- Prepare profitability analyses, product cost reports, and ad-hoc decision support models.
- Support continuous improvement of processes, controls, and reporting quality in the costing environment.
- Degree/Diploma in Accounting/Finance is essential.
- 3–7 years costing experience; manufacturing exposure advantageous.
- Strong Excel capability; ERP exposure advantageous.
- Good understanding of inventory, WIP, and standard costing concepts.
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to engage operational stakeholders and work to deadlines.
