Conveyancer - Pretoria East
Role Purpose
The Conveyancer is responsible for managing and executing property transfer transactions from inception to registration, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and client requirements. The role involves liaising with clients, financial institutions, estate agents, municipalities, and the Deeds Office to facilitate seamless property transfers while maintaining the highest standards of legal accuracy and client service.Key Responsibilities
Property Transfers and Conveyancing
- Manage residential and commercial property transfer matters from instruction through to registration.
- Draft, prepare, review, and lodge all conveyancing documentation.
- Attend to property transfer registrations, bond registrations, and bond cancellations.
- Ensure all transactions comply with applicable legislation, regulations, and conveyancing procedures.
- Conduct legal due diligence and verify property-related documentation.
- Monitor and manage transaction timelines to ensure efficient processing.
Client and Stakeholder Liaison
- Consult with clients regarding transfer processes, requirements, and progress updates.
- Liaise with estate agents, financial institutions, municipalities, SARS, and the Deeds Office.
- Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders involved in conveyancing transactions.
- Provide accurate legal advice relating to property transfers and conveyancing matters.
Compliance and Administration
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and FICA requirements.
- Prepare and review transfer duty applications and supporting documentation.
- Attend to rates clearances, compliance certificates, and related municipal requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems for all transactions.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of all documentation.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare reports and updates for clients and management.
- Ensure all files are accurately maintained and compliant with firm policies.
- Assist with resolving transactional queries and legal issues arising during the conveyancing process.
Role Requirements
Qualifications
- LLB Degree or equivalent legal qualification is essential.
- Admission as an Attorney and Conveyancer will be highly advantageous.
- Conveyancing certification or completed conveyancing examinations will be advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a conveyancing environment.
- Proven experience handling property transfer transactions.
- Exposure to bond registrations and bond cancellations will be advantageous.
- Experience liaising with the Deeds Office and related stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of South African property law and conveyancing procedures.
- Knowledge of Deeds Office processes and requirements.
- Understanding of FICA and related regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in conveyancing software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent drafting and legal document preparation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
