Role Overview

An industrial facility in the Ngodwana area is seeking an experienced C&I Instrumentation Mechanician to support protection, control systems, high-voltage plant equipment, and electrical maintenance.

Responsibilities

Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair sensors, control valves, PLC systems, and field instrumentation.
Manage protection and control systems and primary high-voltage plant equipment.
Test, diagnose, and maintain protection relays, SCADA controls, substation equipment, and high-voltage plant systems.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on temperature, level, and pressure instruments and transmitters.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on heavy-current electrical machinery, including generators, motors, VSD drives, DC systems, compressors, pumps, and drives.
Troubleshoot electrical faults using diagnostic software to minimise downtime.
Maintain accurate protection-system records within CMMS software.
Monitor plant equipment, computer terminals, switches, gauges, alarms, and meters.

Requirements

Grade 12 and completion of a practical instrumentation course; Red Seal certification from an accredited facility is preferred.
National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Control and Instrumentation.
Minimum 5 years' technical experience in protection and control systems.
Strong ability to trace, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and control-system faults.
