Biostatistician

Description

An organisation in occupational and public health is seeking an experienced Biostatistician in Braamfontein. The role provides biostatistical expertise, research, training, and teaching support across health, research, and workplace-health programmes, including policy support, scientific publications, and capacity development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support workplace-health policies, systems, and programmes with biostatistical expertise.
  • Conduct analyses and provide statistical support across the organisation.
  • Plan and implement occupational-health research relating to diseases and injuries.
  • Develop and review analysis plans for grants, protocols, publications, and reports.
  • Coordinate training for health professionals and students and contribute to biostatistics and epidemiology teaching.
  • Engage with national and international partners.
  • Undertake public- and occupational-health research and contribute to scientific evidence.
  • Provide technical advice to practitioners, employers, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare scientific reports and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.

Minimum Requirements

  • MSc in Epidemiology or Biostatistics; PhD is advantageous.
  • Three to five years' post-Master's biostatistics experience.
  • At least three years' research and data-analysis experience.
  • Publication record of at least five publications.
  • Strong biostatistics, epidemiology, statistical-software, database, and data-analysis knowledge.
  • Proficiency in SAS, STATA, or R and advanced Excel.
