BI ACCOUNTANT
Role Overview
Introduction
A leading organisation is seeking an analytical and systems-focused BI Accountant to join its Finance team. The successful candidate will combine strong accounting knowledge with business intelligence, data analytics, ERP administration and manufacturing costing experience. This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys working with data, developing meaningful reports and dashboards, improving systems, and supporting business decision-making across Finance and Operations.
Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and continuously improve BI reports, dashboards and financial reporting solutions. Use Power BI, SQL and Excel to analyse and present financial and operational data. Design meaningful reports that support effective business decision-making. Provide reporting insights to Finance and operational departments. Assist with ad-hoc reporting, data extraction and audit information requests. Monitor reporting accuracy and resolve data discrepancies.
Provide ongoing support and administration for the SYSPRO ERP platform. Support third-party and customised applications linked to SYSPRO. Investigate and troubleshoot system-related issues. Participate in system upgrades, testing, configuration and implementation projects. Develop and maintain user guides and system documentation. Provide system training and support to end users.
Ensure the accuracy, integrity and governance of financial and operational data. Maintain master data integrity across SYSPRO and related reporting platforms. Perform data validation, reconciliations and quality-assurance checks.
Design, maintain and improve manufacturing costing structures and product-costing models. Maintain product costing and margin-analysis reports. Support budgeting, forecasting and CAPEX costing processes. Analyse production, operational and financial data. Support month-end financial reporting. Investigate costing variances and recommend corrective action.
Identify opportunities to improve business processes through automation and enhanced reporting. Support Finance and Operations teams with reporting and system-related queries. Participate in cross-functional system and process-improvement projects.
Requirements
Desired Experience & Qualification
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, Information Systems, Business Intelligence or a related field. A professional accounting qualification or progress towards one would be advantageous. Power BI certification, SYSPRO certification or formal ERP systems training would be advantageous. Relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, business intelligence or systems-accounting. Practical SYSPRO experience is highly advantageous. Strong Power BI, SQL and advanced Excel skills. Manufacturing costing, product costing, job costing and margin analysis. Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, CAPEX and month-end reporting. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
