Attorney Bellville Cape Town

Our client is an established and respected law firm specializing in Financial, Commercial, and Property Law. With a strong track record of delivering quality legal services to corporate clients, financial institutions, and property developers, they are expanding their team to meet growing demand in these specialist areas.

Salary: Negotiable (based on experience and qualification)

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, standard office hours

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Practice Areas: Financial Law | Commercial Law | Property Law

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent
  • Admitted attorney with practicing certificate in good standing
  • Minimum 3–5 years post-admission experience in Financial, Commercial, and/or Property Law
  • Strong expertise in one or more of the following: Financial Law / Commercial Law / Property Law
  • Track record of successful transactions or case outcomes
  • Business development experience
  • Experience with property development and financing
  • Excellent legal research and drafting skills
  • Strong transactional or litigation experience (as applicable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software
  • Strong client relationship management abilities
  • Professional demeanor and high ethical standards
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple files
  • Sound judgment and negotiation skills

Key Responsibilities

Legal Practice & Client Services

  • Provide expert legal advice on financial, commercial, and property matters
  • Draft and review legal documents (contracts, agreements, opinions, memoranda)
  • Manage client consultations and relationship building
  • Represent clients in negotiations and dispute resolution
  • Conduct due diligence on transactions and property acquisitions

Specialist Legal Work

  • Financial Law: Draft and review banking agreements, advise on securities and financial compliance, manage transaction documentation
  • Commercial Law: Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, advise on M&A and corporate transactions, provide competition law guidance
  • Property Law: Manage property transactions and conveyancing, conduct property due diligence, advise on property development and leasing

Case/File Management

  • Manage assigned caseload or transaction pipeline effectively
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions
  • Meet deadlines and manage transaction timelines
  • Maintain accurate file documentation and compliance

Professional Development

  • Stay current with legal developments in specialist fields
  • Contribute to firm training and knowledge-sharing
  • Support junior staff and paralegals

Administrative & Business

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations
  • Contribute to firm profitability through effective billing
  • Participate in firm meetings and strategic initiatives
  • Support business development activities
