Area Manager - Eastern Cape

Role Overview

Lead area retail operations across the Eastern Cape and help the business gain market differentiation through strong commercial execution, customer focus, people leadership, and continuous improvement. The role combines sales and profitability ownership with operational governance, talent development, customer service, and store-growth delivery.

Responsibilities

• Implement area business opportunities that improve market differentiation and support sales and profit growth.
• Deliver and manage financial targets, including budgets, profit and loss information, and financial ratios.
• Manage internal processes, procedures, compliance, and operational risk across the area.
• Generate, analyse, and act on relevant reports within agreed timeframes.
• Drive customer-service initiatives, correct service gaps, and support customer loyalty and participation targets.
• Implement store-expansion targets that improve customer convenience.
• Implement the people strategy, build capability, and support pharmacy and professional development.
• Support retention of scarce and critical skills and ensure consistent business performance.
• Ensure adherence to HR policies and procedures aligned with corporate governance.

Requirements

• Grade 12.
• B.Com degree or diploma, B.Pharm, or a related qualification in retail or finance management.
• At least five years of area-management experience within a retail-store operations environment.
• Extensive people-management experience and exposure to diverse teams.
• Retail, financial, risk, HR, change-management, business-acumen, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate, persuade, plan, organise, deliver results, and cope with pressure.
